About the Calhoun County Unit
As a group of local friends gathered to talk and share concern about our democracy and how voting seemed to be threatened, we began brainstorming ways to take positive, non-partisan action. One member of the group shared the positive effect that the League of Women Voters (LWV) has on informing voters and researching issues that impact our cities, county, state and nation. That was the catalyst to pursue a Calhoun County League of Women Voters Geographical Unit. The Geographical Unit is the first step toward building our own local League. It gives the gift of sharing mentors from the LWV of the Kalamazoo Area who have led their organization for a long period of time. We’re excited to offer Calhoun County women, men and students aged 16 and older the opportunity to draw together to take positive concrete action to strengthen the democracy that we all cherish.
The League of Women Voters of the Kalamazoo Area Calhoun County Unit now invites you in the Calhoun County area members who share the same motivation to continue strengthening our nation, to join our group. Please help us grow strong by becoming a member of the Calhoun County Unit. Simply join the Kalamazoo League (which then also includes membership in the state and national LWV) and you will be connected to our county Geographical Unit.
If you aren’t yet able to make the commitment to join the League of Women Voters but are interested, please sign up to be on our email list or Like us on Facebook. For more information on the LWV mission of “Empowering Voters. Defending Democracy”, explore our Kalamazoo area LWV mentor league, state and national websites. The League of Women Voters is a non-partisan organization, which means it neither supports nor opposes any political party or candidate. Together we can inform, educate and take positive action to maintain and strengthen our county, state and nation.
