If you are already on the permanent absentee voter list, you will automatically receive a ballot to vote from home when ballots are available and distributed beginning 40 days before the election.
However, if you are not on the permanent absentee voter list yet, you must submit an absentee ballot application to your local clerk before an absentee ballot can be sent. You can submit a completed absentee ballot application to your local clerk online at mi.gov/vote. If you prefer you could print the application, complete it, and mail it to the local clerk or visit the local clerk’s office to complete the application for an absentee ballot there. For the November election, you can submit an absentee ballot application now. Deadline: To ensure that there is enough time to receive and return an absentee ballot, plan on submitting the absentee ballot application at least 15 days before Election Day.
